This was made for Sherece after she named a stallion after me. Her little side note said because I'd been a friend of hers from the beginning of her dA career [and the beginning of mine too]. It really made me think about that, and it really has been a long time.

She started watching me way back when my art really sucked, and I mean REALLY sucked. I'm still not sure to this day why she watched me then, maybe she saw promise in my art, and she's definantly helped me grow as an artist, giving me tips and advice. She has been a great inspiration and an even greater friend. I truely hope to have the honour of actually getting to meet her someday.

About the Image:
I told myself I would never do pixel again, especially with only a mouse. But, somehow I can't help but be drawn to it again. Sherece always liked my little pixels back when I used to always do them, so I thought it an appropriate media for her gift.

I really don't know anything about Horse anatomy, and I didn't know what a Spanish Mustang looked like so I had a lot of reference, and its neck still look too short. :X I decided to go with a vector background to off-set the pixel. I know I know, the shadowing is bad. I'm sure I messed up most of the colours.

I do realize its quite small. I didnt realize how small it was until I was done with the sketch [with a mouse].. and it was soo late to resize it because it would have distorted the pixels. The hooves need a little work in my opinion, but over all I'm very satesfied with the finished product, and I hope Sherece is too.


Admins: Just because I used reference doesn't mean I traced. I drew this on my own, pixel or not.

Sorry for the repost, they moved it to my scraps and I worked really hard on this. I'd like to keep it in my gallery.

Horse anatomy is like satan reincarnate >.< Taking that into consideraton, this looks bloody excellent, no matter how many references you used o.o And kudos for your amazing pixel coloring/shading abilities @__@

LOL, so many people have said that, is pixel really that hard to a lot of people? I think its much easier than photoshop and even traditional painting, its just time consuming. Actually, in a lot of whats its just like painting except you can always count on having the same colour.

pixel is hard for people that don't like paying very close attention to detail and people that fail at patience. ....people like me = D

I can see how they'd be similar, but I always thought that photoshop and traditional paint were easier to blend o-0 You do have a point with that same color thing though...

I suck at Pixel art, as you can tell by the few I have in my gallery. Seriously, it takes me two hours just to do something so simple.

And you are are good at doing horses. They seem difficult to me.

They actually are quite diffiuclt for me too, I had alot of reference, but the foreleg muscles here are still wrong but not enough I'm willing to go back and fix them. :3

This looks like a horse at the barn i ride at, Called Cara. Without the back white leg it would look exactly like her X3
I love this! And don't worry, the neck dosn't look short at all, really ^_^
